Peanut Butter Crispy Bars

A great afterschool snack or road trip hunger-stopper, these bars are the perfect blend of childhood nostalgia and creamy peanut butter.

  • Serves: Makes 24 bars



3 tbsp (45 mL) margarine
10 large marshmallows
¼ cup (60 mL) smooth peanut butter
6 cups (1.5 L) crispy rice cereal


Melt margarine and marshmallows in large saucepan over low heat. Stir frequently until melted completely.

Remove from heat and stir in peanut butter until combined.

Stir in rice cereal until the cereal is completely coated with the marshmallow mixture. Spread mixture into a 13 x 9-inch pan lightly coated with non-stick cooking spray. Press mixture into pan until firmly packed. Cool completely.

Cut into 24 bars.
