Allergy Update: Peanut allergy treatment safe for use on children, study suggests

Girl with peanut butter jarNew research suggests that preschool-aged children who have peanut allergies may benefit from being introduced to peanut protein in small amounts. Oral immunotherapy is still a relatively new treatment, and many allergists are hesitant to try it for fear of inducing an allergic reaction. Now, researchers at the University of British Columbia and BC Children's Hospital are saying the risk is very small.

The Canada-wide findings have been published in the Journal of Allergy and Clinical Immunology: In Practice.
